Mrs. Janna Mayes

Well...what do I say. So much has happened since the last blog post. Obviously the biggest things and best thing that's happened in my life is I married the man of my dreams. I'm so grateful for the gift God has given me and I still find myself still says "I can't believe we're married!"

Things have been pretty busy here if you can imagine. The wedding was wonderful and we're still adjusting to married life. I don't really have much time tonight to download a lot of pictures but here are some of my favorites from the Indy reception and Honeymoon.

I'll try to be better at posting...but no guarantees! :)

The newest Mayes on the block

Last weekend was Jason and Courtney's wedding and it was truly amazing! We got to Dallas on Wednesday night and stayed till Sunday afternoon. The whole weekend was beautiful and things went so smoothly.

Surprisingly enough, we had a lot of down time. We were able to run errands, take naps, get our nails done, lunch with the girls and I even managed to make an unexpected Target trip!

I've been slacking on the pictures a little so here are a couple links to Jen's Blog and Katie's blog.

Courtney has been such a blessing to me. We've prayed together, laughed together, cried together, struggled together and God has placed amazing men in our lives at the same time.

To Courtney and Jason...You are amazing and God is going to do great things in your new life together! Love ya'll!

Quick update...

It truly has been hard to keep up with everything...let alone a my blog. I actually really enjoy blogging but when the schedule gets tight...something has to give and unfortunately this has taken a back seat. So this should help get you up to date...

* We went to Dallas last weekend for Courtney's bachelorette shower...and had a blast.

* Jon and I had engagement pictures done a couple weeks ago when we went to Tulsa. Greg and Kristen were coming in town from California so we made the famous '48 hour' Tulsa trip. We're becoming professionals at the 48 hour weekend travel...but we wouldn't change it for the world.

* Other than that...Jon and I are just preparing for the big day. I can't wait till May 2nd and the thought of spending the rest of my life with him completely blows my mind. He's just so perfect for me and to know in my heart of hearts that the Lord brought us together is so amazing.

Here are a couple of my favorite pictures.

I'm getting M-A-R-R-I-E-D!

WHOO HOO!!!!!

Well...it's official...Jon and I are getting married. He proposed on Friday night and I said "YES".

Many of you are asking how he did it so here's the complete story...

He set up a 'decoy date' last Friday (which I totally fell for). I should have known but when he told me he had a surprise, I had the camera battery charged, make-up on, phone batteries charged and my call list ready to go. He took me to a little Italian restaurant which was like the one we went to in Tulsa for our first date. We tried to go ice skating but they weren't open so we just went back to his house. No questions for me that night...

Then we were talking about the upcoming week with his family Christmas stuff, driving to Tulsa for Christmas and Manda and P.K.'s wedding next weekend. So he said, "Why don't we have a date night on Friday?". Okie's don't turn down food...especially with a good lookin' man! This isn't unlike us to have date nights especially before we have jammed packed family weekends! So...nothing out of the ordinary so far...

On Friday night he took me to dinner for sushi (he totally knows the way to my heart), then said we have a reservation for the Downtown Indy carriage ride. The ride last about 30 minutes so we're just talking and enjoying the time together.

I later found out the he wanted to propose on the carriage ride. The ride goes along the main downtown streets but when you turn around, there's a quieter/less busy road. Instead of taking the quieter route around the memorial park, our trip went through the park...up the ramp, in the grass, on the bumpy walk way and just as we're turning back on the street...the horse decides to start running...obviously a less than ideal time to pop the question. Of course...I had no clue he was thinking all this...I was just excited the carriage had a momentary roller coaster feel! :)

We finished the ride and Jon said he thought we could watch the movie 'Hitch' at his house. I wasn't even thinking about the movie title, I just thought it was weird he had already picked out the movie. So we get to his house, I'm sitting on the couch and Jon's putting his coat up...which is code for "getting the ring". He comes back in the room and says, "Well, we can either watch the movie or I can ask you a question?", pulls out a box, "I have this box and it might have something in it..." That when I finally realized this was it...I cover my mouth with the blanket and for some reason start saying "right here...now, right now, here...now...here...now...here?!?!?!?!" I'm not sure why that came out of my mouth? I guess you can rehearse in your head a million things you think you'll do or say when that time comes and you'll do sometime totally different.

So, now that I had totally confused him...he's thinking, "Holy cow...what does she mean right here...now...Not right here...now???" He quickly realized had no clue what was coming out of my mouth and what I meant was "I can't believe it's happening right here and now" not "Don't do this right here/right now!" We'll have to work on that communication piece later :)

He got on his knee and said, "WILL YOU MARRY ME?"......."YES...of course!"

So...there it is...the man of my dreams and love of my life popped the question!

We don't have any details to provide but we are planning a wedding and reception in Tulsa, an Indianapolis reception and are looking at the end of May/beginning of June time frame.

Here's a photo recap of the last 9 months!

Brian Regan

Jon and I like to occasionally surprise each other...so...I got us tickets this week to see a comedian we like Brian Regan. The great thing about him is he is VERY clean. Nothing he said was degrading and he didn't use one cuss word and for that he should be commended!

This is a picture in the theater before I got told to 'put my camera away'. I always seem to get caught taking illegal pictures. I guess it's the whole "Ask for forgiveness thing".

I've liked Brian Regan for quite some time. I had only seen him on youtube until Jon came to Tulsa. It was his first visit, he got in around 8:30 and stayed with some friends of mine Kenny and Leslie. We played games (off the record...I won...but who's keeping track anyway) and then watched Brian Regan. I can honestly say I was SO NERVOUS that he was actually in Tulsa I think I only remember about 2 minutes of the whole 1 hour act.

VERY EASY Tortilla Soup recipe

I love cold weather because I get to start pulling out all my soup recipes. If you haven't noticed, I love cooking and love easy recipes. If you can't make this one, you should probably just get out of the kitchen. All you do is throw a bunch of canned items in a pot and turn the stove on. Honestly...if you really wanted, you could probably microwave this one so no excuses!

Tortilla Soup

1/2 block Velveta Cheese
1 can Cream of Celery Soup (just the can, don't add water)
2 cans chicken broth
1 can red beans (drained and rinsed)
1 can Rotel (1/2 can if you like it less spicy)
1 can Chicken and Rice Soup
1lb chicken

Directions: Put all ingredients in a pot and cook on the stove. (Yes...that's all the directions...it can't get any easier than that!)

Helpful tips:
*If you're in a big hurry, buy canned chicken. I know it sounds gross but it's actually not bad, especially when mixed with other ingredients.
*If you have time, you can get any type of chicken, cook it, cut it in bite size pieces and add to the soup. Several times, I've just bought a precooked rotisserie chicken from the grocery store. Then all I have to do is cut it up. Other times, when I have more time (and it's cheaper) I will but 1 lb of chicken(any kind), boil, cut and add to the soup.
*Feel free to add water or more chicken broth depending on whether you like thick or thinner soup.

I've totally dropped the blogging ball...

Okay...I have totally dropped the ball on this whole blog thing. I've started to realize how much time I don't have now that I'm working. So, this is basically what's happened in the last 2 weeks.

Jon and I went to Tulsa the weekend of the 7th for Denise's wedding. It was absolutely BEAUTIFUL and she looked stunning! You know how much I love cake so of course, I took a picture and ate a piece of each. That's how the Saunders family does it...we're eaters!

The weekend was SO BUSY. It's really hard to go home for <48 hours and try to see everyone...in fact it's just not possible but we just continue to do the best we can.

Besides going to Denise's wedding, we spent time with the family. You know when there's a child involved...we tend to forget to take pictures of everyone else. So these are the pics of Miles. He's just so darn cute! I love it when babies look like little men! He had really changed since I last saw him. He's smiling must more and is interested in everything that's going on around him.
